Mike and Laura Byrne have combined their passions
for west coast art and native plant photography
to create a welcoming atmosphere in their home.

Mike is a first nations artist
who carves western red cedar
into traditional masks accenting them with bone, hair and cedar bark.

Some of these works are available for sale! Speak with Mike about commissioning a work for your home.

Poke around the garden and you are sure to find cedar shavings and, if you are lucky, sample smoked salmon from his traditional smoke house.
Laura is biologist who works for the local municipality.

Her work has lead her to some of the most beautiful natural areas which she has enthusiastically captured on film. All of the photos throughout your suite are Laura's work.

Laura has traveled extensively
and now enjoys reciprocating the hospitality she has received on her travels to their guests.
Camille is an energetic, though remarkably quiet (!), child who enjoys wagon rides, bicycling and playing with her toys!  Chances are you will see either Camille, or her toys, in the yard!

History of the Quails Roost
The Quail's Roost is a part of a home that was completed in 2005. The original 2.5 acre property (complete with a small 1950's cabin) was purchased in 1986 and the main house was built shortly thereafter by Ed and Rose Byrne. The property was subdivided in the late1990's to allow their children (Mike and Sheila) to build homes for their families. Sheila and her husband Nathan built their home in 2001. In 2005, Mike and Laura, who had been living in the cabin, finally completed their home, and the Quail's Roost.
